About

I'm a software engineer at Bloomberg LP, where I've worked since 2003. Most of my current technical work is in C++, standardization, and tooling.

I participate in WG21, the ISO C++ committee. My main active work is P2988 (std::optional<T&>) and P1255 (views::nullable). Previously I worked on Unicode-related proposals that landed in C++20 and C++23, including P1949 (identifier syntax) and P2071 (named character escapes).

Background

Before Bloomberg: Netfolio, JPMorgan, Mortgage Industry Advisory Corp, and Cohane Rafferty Securities. I graduated from SUNY Purchase.

This Blog

"What Comes to Mind" has been running in various forms since 2004. Posts are written in Emacs org-mode and published with Nikola. The current theme is built on Tailwind CSS. Syntax highlighting uses modus-vivendi-tinted via a custom Emacs package that exports face definitions directly from the theme's color palette.
